Spanish Dual Language

Cholee Lake Elementary School offers an exciting Spanish Dual Language program! Our program allows native English speakers to acquire the Spanish language and native Spanish speakers to acquire the English language. Our students learn 50% of the day in each language.

Spanish Dual Language Programs, also known as "Two–Way Immersion" programs, allow students to develop proficiency in two languages by receiving content area instruction in both English and Spanish. Students, regardless of native language proficiency, are provided with ample exposure to both languages,
allowing them to achieve academic excellence while becoming bilingual and biliterate. The program also emphasizes cultural awareness and sensitivity.

For grades 2–5, each school may determine a student’s eligibility for the Dual Language program by using an oral interview along with a Spanish reading inventory or other available Spanish content assessments. Newly arrived Spanish-speaking ELLs should be automatically admitted into the program at their zoned school.
